Ludger Mees is a German social sciences and pedagogy graduate, born in Essen in 1957. He is a contemporary history professor and serves as the Vice-Rector of Basque Language at the University of the Basque Country since 2004. Mees has specialized in the history of nationalism and Basque political conflict, writing books on the Basque Nationalist Party and the lehendakari José Antonio Aguirre, which have received mixed reviews from Basque political circles. He also contributed to the documentary 'Galíndez' about Jesús de Galíndez Suárez.
