Luis Enrique Chero Zurita is a Peruvian archaeologist born on April 24, 1958, in La Zaranda, Lambayeque. He is notable for his discovery of the Royal Tombs of Sipán in 1987 alongside Walter Alva and Susana Meneses. Chero Zurita has been significantly involved in the Sipán Archaeological Project, where he excavated key tombs. Currently, he is the resident archaeologist and director of the Huaca Rajada-Sipán Site Museum, leading ongoing archaeological research since March 2007, which has included excavations of significant pyramids and additional tombs in the area.
