Luis Ernesto Mejía Castro, born on June 11, 1963, in Cali, Colombia, is a lawyer, businessman, and politician from Valle del Cauca. He graduated in Law from Universidad de San Buenaventura in Cali and holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from ICESI. Mejía served as Deputy Minister of Mines towards the end of President Andrés Pastrana's administration (1998-2002) and was later appointed Minister of Mines by President Álvaro Uribe, serving from 2002 to 2006. He is affiliated with the Colombian Conservative Party and is the son of Ernesto Mejía Amaya, the founder of Baterías MAC.
