He has served as the Deputy Prosecutor of the Supreme Court since 2014 and acted as the Attorney General following the sudden death of José Manuel Maza in November 2017. This was not his first time in an acting role; he also served in 2014 during Eduardo Torres-Dulce's resignation until Consuelo Madrigal took over in January 2015. Notably, he investigated corruption in the Guardia Civil related to General Enrique Rodríguez Galindo, despite receiving criticism over the case.
