Luis Rivero del Val, born on March 2, 1909, in Mexico City, was a former Cristero soldier and chronicler of the armed struggle in Mexico, notably during the Cristero War from 1926 to 1929. After surviving violent religious persecution under the Calles government, he graduated as a civil engineer from UNAM and became one of the most respected engineers and writers of his time.
