He has also contributed artwork for book covers, music albums, video games, and tarot cards. Royo began his career as a furniture designer but was drawn to the comic book industry in the late 1970s, influenced by artists like Enki Bilal and Jean Giraud. He fully transitioned to art as a profession in 1979.
