Luise Kanitz was an Austrian pianist and resistance fighter. Born as Luise Lebensaft in Vienna in 1908, she studied music and became a certified pianist. After her husband, Ernst Kanitz, fled to France due to his Jewish heritage, Luise engaged in resistance activities against the Nazi regime. She joined the Austrian Freedom Movement, where she was actively involved in planning sabotage actions. In 1940, she was arrested following betrayal and was sentenced to six years in prison for conspiracy against the state. Illnesses from her imprisonment hindered her music career, and she passed away in 1976.
