He is regarded as the 'father of the gamebook genre' in Bulgaria. Nikolov is a respected Tolkien scholar and has translated four of J.R.R. Tolkien's works: 'The Lord of the Rings,' 'The Silmarillion,' 'Unfinished Tales,' and 'The Children of Húrin.' He has authored numerous children's tales, gamebooks, fantasy stories, and novels.
