M. Anwar Hossain is a prominent Bangladeshi scientist, writer, and politician, born on August 20, 1949. He is a professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Dhaka and a member of the Permanent Committee of the National Socialist Party. Hossain served as the 14th Vice-Chancellor of Jahangirnagar University and was the former President of the Dhaka University Teachers' Association and the Bangladesh Society of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology. He was a freedom fighter during the 1971 Liberation War, serving as a sector commander in the 11th sector.
