M. George Craford is an American electrical engineer renowned for his work on light-emitting diodes (LEDs). He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Physics from the University of Iowa in 1961, followed by a Master of Science in Physics in 1963 and a Ph.D. in 1967 from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Craford began his career at Monsanto Chemical Company and joined Hewlett-Packard in 1979, becoming the R&D manager for HP's optoelectronics division. He is a member of the National Academy of Engineering and a Fellow of the IEEE, receiving several awards for his contributions.
