Maneyapanda Muthanna Somaya is a former Indian field hockey player and captain of the Indian national team. He was instrumental in leading the team to a gold medal win at the 1980 Moscow Olympics and also played in the 1984 and 1988 Olympics, captaining the team in the latter. After his sporting career, he built a successful corporate career with Bharat Petroleum and was honored with the Life Time Achievement award in 2007 by the Petroleum Sports Promotion Board, along with the prestigious Arjuna Award.
