Yudy Macarena Valdés Muñoz (1984 - 2016) was a Chilean ecofeminist political activist known for leading the fight against the installation of a hydroelectric plant on the Tranguil River. Her suspicious death in 2016 is being investigated as a possible murder, which has brought her considerable recognition posthumously. Valdés has become a symbol of ecofeminist struggle in Chile, compared to other notable leaders such as Berta Cáceres and Marielle Franco.
