Macarie Ioniță was a Romanian archimandrite and priest, born on May 17, 1924, in Glodeanu Siliștea, Buzău County. The second of seven children, he entered monastic life after military service in 1949 at Balaciu Monastery, later being ordained a hieromonk. He served as abbot at various monasteries, including Căldărușani and Snagov, and was a spiritual guide at Pasărea Monastery until his death on August 3, 2007, cared for by devoted nuns in his later years.
