He gained prominence as the lead singer of the Indian rock band Atomic Forest during the 1970s and is renowned for his role as Jesus in Alyque Padamsee's production of Jesus Christ Superstar. Based in New York City, he had a notable impact on the music scene. Madhukar was the elder brother of Dheena Chandra Dhas, who is also involved in music and acting.
