Magdalena Petryńska is a Polish translator born on March 12, 1940, in Lviv. She graduated in Polish Philology in 1964 and Slavic Studies in 1968. From 1967 to 1991, she worked as an editor at the National Publishing Institute. Later, from 1991 to 1996, she served as an advisor at the Polish embassy in Belgrade. A member of the Polish Writers' Association, she translates literature from Serbian, Croatian, and Bosnian and received the Angelus Award for translating Miljenko Jergović's book 'Srda sings at dusk on Whitsun'.
