He developed an interest in folk music and the nyckelharpa after attending a local music café at age 12. Holmström learned from mentor Göran Ruthström and plays various traditional string instruments. He has earned multiple world champion titles and is celebrated for his exceptional musicianship. In addition to performing, he has taught workshops internationally and has been involved in the production of numerous folk music recordings through his record label, Dimma Sweden.
