Mahammad Piar (1923-2008) was an influential educator, poet, and novelist from Assam, India. He is recognized among the fifty prominent novelists of the 20th century. Piar published his first poetry collection while in seventh grade and his first novel, 'Preeti-Upahar', while in ninth grade. Throughout his lifetime, he authored three poetry collections, eight novels, and several books on politics and religion, in addition to translations. He is remembered as an exemplary teacher.
