Mehdi Sanaei is an Iranian academic and politician, currently serving as a Professor at the University of Tehran and the Deputy of Political Affairs of the President's Office since August 22, 2024. He has a rich background in diplomacy, having served as Iran's Ambassador to Russia from 2013 to 2019. Sanaei is also the founder of both the Russian Studies Department and the Institute for Iran-Eurasia Studies. He has authored several works focusing on international relations and has been involved in cultural diplomacy in Central Asia and beyond.
