Māhir Baṭṭūṭī is an Egyptian writer and translator, who lived in Tanta, Alexandria, and Cairo. He studied at Cairo University in 1961 and worked as a cultural attaché in Madrid for nearly five years. In March 1978, he began working as a translator and editor at the United Nations in New York, acquiring American citizenship in 2007. He has translated numerous works from English, Spanish, and French and has published 16 translated books, including poetry by Spanish writer Federico García Lorca, along with ten authored books.
