Mahmoud al-Mashhadani is an Iraqi politician and parliamentarian born on May 20, 1948. He served as the first president of the Iraqi parliament following the American invasion of the country. His tenure as the Speaker of the Iraqi Council of Representatives lasted from 2006 to 2009. In addition to his role in the Iraqi parliament, he was elected as the president of the Arab Parliamentary Union in 2008, highlighting his influence in Arab political affairs.
