Mahmoud Kheir el-Din was a Druze-Israeli officer in Sayeret Matkal, a special operations unit of the IDF, who served with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. He was killed during a secret operation in Khan Younis on November 11, 2018. Due to the classified nature of his role, details of his identity remained confidential for over three years after his death, referred to in the media as 'Lt. Col. M' until information was declassified on May 15, 2022. He was posthumously awarded the Chief of Staff Citation for his actions.
