Mahmuda Khatun Siddiqua (December 16, 1906 - May 2, 1977) was a Bengali poet known as the first female poet in Bengali literature. She was the first female sonneteer and poet of prose rhythm among women poets. Born in Pabna, her ancestral home was in Kushtia. Mahmuda's literary journey began in the early 1930s, and her first poetry book 'Posharini' was published in 1932. Throughout her career until the 1960s, she became one of the prominent female poets of Bangladesh, with her works reflecting human joy, sorrow, and the beauty of nature. She passed away quietly at the age of 71.
