Stella Grace 'Maisie' Carr was an Australian botanist and ecologist born on February 26, 1912, in Footscray and passed away on September 9, 1988, in Canberra. Her early research focused on the ecology of the Victorian highlands. In 1955, she married fellow researcher Dennis Carr, and together they conducted morphological and taxonomic research on the Eucalyptus genus. In 1981, coinciding with the International Botanical Congress in Sydney, they edited and authored two historical essay volumes on Australian botany, namely 'People and Plants in Australia' and 'Plants and Man in Australia'.
