She excelled academically but left school at 14 to support her family due to her mother's illness. At 18, she served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service during WWII, educating illiterate soldiers. Mosco had two marriages: first to Aubrey Liston in 1948 and later to Gerald Mosco in 1957. Despite her challenging beginnings, she made significant contributions as a writer throughout her life.
