Major Best Harding, born on October 13, 1935, is an American attorney and former Chief Justice of the Florida Supreme Court. Appointed by Governor Lawton Chiles in 1991, he served until 2002, with a tenure as chief justice from 1998 to 2000. Before this role, he was a circuit judge and a juvenile court judge. Harding is a graduate of Wake Forest University and holds a Master of Laws from the University of Virginia. He continues to practice law as a shareholder at Ausley McMullen in Tallahassee, Florida.
