Makandal Akhenation Daaga, born Geddes Granger on August 13, 1935, was a prominent Trinidad and Tobago political activist and revolutionary. As the leader of the 1970 Black Power Revolution, he fought against racial inequalities faced by black citizens in Trinidad. In 1969, he founded the National Joint Action Committee (NJAC) to promote his causes. Daaga was arrested during the civil unrest related to the revolution. He passed away on August 8, 2016, leaving a significant legacy in Trinidadian politics.
