Makhan Lal Fotedar (1932-2017) was an influential Indian politician associated with the Congress party. A close aide to the Nehru family, especially Indira Gandhi, he held key cabinet positions in both the Government of India and Jammu and Kashmir. Fotedar served as an MLA and later as an MP in Rajya Sabha. Known as the 'Chanakya of Indian politics', he had a significant political career but resigned from Congress after the Babri Masjid demolition, later returning to the party under Sonia Gandhi's leadership.
