Makoto Iokibe (December 16, 1943 - March 6, 2024) was a Japanese political scientist and historian specializing in Japanese political diplomacy history. He was also an expert in policy process studies and Japan-U.S. relations. Iokibe held the rank of Junior Third Rank and was awarded the Order of the Precious Crown. He earned a Doctor of Law from Kyoto University in 1987. Throughout his career, he served as the Chairman of the Hyogo Earthquake Memorial 21st Century Research Institute and held various honorary professor positions at several universities.
