Makoto Itō (born February 14, 1945) is a prominent Japanese legal scholar specializing in civil procedure law, civil enforcement law, civil conservatory law, bankruptcy law, and court law. He is an emeritus professor at the University of Tokyo and a visiting professor at Waseda University and Nihon University. He is a member of the Japan Academy and studied under the renowned scholar Akira Mikado. Among his disciples is Yugo Hishida.
