Makoto Sakurai is a Japanese political activist, blogger, and writer, born on February 15, 1972, in Kitakyushu, Japan. He was a civil servant before founding the far-right nationalist group Zaitokukai, known for its anti-foreign stance. His public demonstrations have drawn controversy for their unruliness. After his failure in the 2016 Tokyo gubernatorial election, he established the Japan First Party in August 2016, where he currently serves as the leader.
