Makuakai (Makua) Rothman, born on June 17, 1984, is an accomplished American big wave rider, professional surfer, and musician. He gained prominence after being crowned the 2015 Big Wave World Champion during the inaugural Big Wave World Tour by the World Surf League (WSL). Notably, Rothman distinguished himself by riding an estimated 100-foot wave at Jaws, Maui, on January 16, 2021, which was reported to be the largest wave ever ridden in Hawaii.
