Born on June 6, 1936, he faced imprisonment by the Portuguese secret police in 1964 due to alleged connections with the Mozambican Liberation Front (Frelimo). His work evolved to reflect the changing political landscape of Mozambique, particularly becoming more optimistic post-1992 with the arrival of peace. He served as a deputy for Frelimo from 1990 to 1994 and passed away on January 5, 2011, in Portugal.
