He played as a guard in the NFL for the Minnesota Vikings for one game during the 1984 season. Carson attended Hayes High School and later played college football at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He was signed as an undrafted free agent in 1984 but was waived shortly after competing in the season opener against the San Diego Chargers.
