Mansel Carter, known as the 'Man of the Mountain', was an American businessman and prospector born on May 12, 1902. He gained recognition in 1987 when The Phoenix named him one of Arizona Legends. His legacy is honored at his gravesite in Gold Mountain, located in the San Tan Mountain Regional Park, which has become a tourist attraction. In 2017, Queen Creek named a community park after him, called the 'Mansel Carter Oasis Park', celebrating his contributions to the area.
