Manuel Calvo Hernando was a Spanish professor, journalist, writer, and scientific communicator, born on November 18, 1923, in Fresnedillas de la Oliva, Madrid. He worked as an editor for the newspaper Ya, eventually becoming its chief editor and deputy director. In addition to his work in journalism, he served as the director of Televisión Española during the presidency of Carlos Robles Piquer at RTVE. Calvo Hernando was recognized for his contributions to science communication and education until his passing on August 16, 2012, in Madrid.
