Manuel John Neri Jr. (1930-2021) was an influential American sculptor known for his life-size figurative sculptures crafted in plaster, bronze, and marble. He adeptly conveyed emotional states through body language and gesture in his work. Neri established his studio in Benicia, California, in 1965 and later acquired a studio in Carrara, Italy, in 1981, focusing on marble sculpting. He collaborated with his primary model, Mary Julia Klimenko, from the early 1970s, producing works that blend contemporary themes with Modernist forms over four decades.
