He played a significant role in establishing a prominent scientific school in Spain known as the Galician School of Ophthalmology. Throughout his career, he contributed to the field of medicine and was recognized as a full academic member of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Galicia. He passed away in La Coruña on March 16, 2023.
