Manuel Soto Ferreiro is a Galician politician born in Ourense on April 6, 1944. He was a founding member of the clandestine PSdeG-PSOE during Franco's dictatorship and served as the mayor of Vigo from 1979 to 1991. After leaving the PSdeG-PSOE in 1998, he co-founded a leftist Galician party called Progressistes Viguesos. He participated in the municipal elections of 1999 and 2003 and was involved in the reconstitution of the Galician Party in 2006. In the 2007 municipal elections, he lost his council seat due to insufficient votes.
