Mara Janković, born Popović on March 8, 1926, in Zemun, was a Serbian pop and jazz singer, renowned as a member of the Vocal Quartet of Predrag Ivanović from 1952 to 1974. She performed widely across Europe with the quartet, famous for the evergreen 'Under the Shine of Stars' from the film 'Love and Fashion' (1960). Acknowledged as the first jazz singer in Yugoslavia, she held numerous concerts with Radio Belgrade's jazz orchestra and retired from music in 1975. Janković passed away in Belgrade on March 8, 2009, aged 84.
