Marc De Buck, born on February 16, 1945, in Petegem-aan-de-Leie, is a Belgian politician affiliated with the Open Vld party. He studied German philology at the University of Ghent, starting his career as a Dutch and English teacher. He was elected as a liberal councilor in Deinze in 1982 and later served in the East Flanders provincial council, where he was its president from 1991 to 1994. After the 1999 elections, he became a deputy responsible for economy and spatial planning. He was re-elected president of the provincial council in 2012.
