Marc Rich, born Marcel David Reich on December 18, 1934, was a prominent commodity trader and hedge fund manager, known for founding the commodities company Glencore. He became infamous for being indicted in the U.S. on charges of tax evasion and illegally trading oil with Iran during the Iran hostage crisis. Rich was in Switzerland at the time of his indictment and never returned to the U.S. He received a controversial presidential pardon from President Bill Clinton on January 20, 2001, on Clinton's last day in office.
