Marc van der Poel (1957-2022) was a prominent Dutch linguist known for his specialization in the history of rhetoric. He served as a professor of Latin language and Philology at Radboud University Nijmegen from 1999, significantly contributing to the field with his extensive research. In addition to his academic responsibilities, he was also the editor of the Dutch magazine Lampas between 2001 and 2004. Van der Poel was an influential figure in the linguistics community, having supervised seven PhD students and becoming a member of the Sodalicium Classicum Noviomagense.
