After Lijst Dedecker's defeat in the 2010 federal elections, he returned to OpenVLD on June 25, 2010. Vanden Bussche holds degrees in law, European law (from Ghent University), and notary law (from VUB), along with a Master of Law from the University of Exeter in the UK. He worked as a notary until 2009, the year he was elected as a Flemish Member of Parliament.
