Marcel Gitton, born Marcel Giroux on April 20, 1903, in Versailles, was a French politician. He was a leading member of the French Communist Party (SFIC) at the start of World War II and was known for opposing the party's official stance during 1939-1940 following the German-Soviet pact. He co-founded the French Workers' and Peasants' Party, a collaborationist entity. Gitton was assassinated on September 5, 1941, in Paris by communist militant Marcel Cretagne.
