Pater Marcel Henrix was a Flemish missionary, Scheutist, and linguistic authority in Ngbaka, a language from the Atlantic Congo language family. Born on May 29, 1928, in Zolder, he joined the Congregation of the Immaculate Heart of Mary and was ordained in 1953. Henrix worked in Congo, where he became a traveling priest and deeply engaged with local communities, learning their customs and language. He authored a dictionary and grammar of Ngbaka. He passed away on March 13, 2015, and was cremated after a funeral service.
