Marcel Migeotte was a Belgian astrophysicist born in Saint-Trond in 1912. He completed a doctorate in physical sciences and mathematics and served as a professor at the University of Liège, eventually becoming its dean. Migeotte collaborated with Pol Swings at the internationally acclaimed Cointe observatory. In 1950, he installed a spectrograph at the Jungfraujoch observatory to analyze the chemical composition of the Sun and Earth's atmosphere, with research continuing into 2020 led by his doctoral student Ginette Roland.
