After training at the École nationale des beaux-arts, he gained acclaim by showcasing over 1,500 paintings and 400 gouaches or watercolors throughout his 55-year career. He also contributed significantly to the art community, becoming secretary of the artists' review and founding the Association for the Dissemination of Graphic and Plastic Arts. A knight of the Legion of Honor, he remained active until his death in Paris.
