He plays various woodwind instruments, including flute, piccolo, clarinet, soprano saxophone, and tenor saxophone. He began his professional career in 1973 with the group A Barca do Sol and has worked with prominent Brazilian artists such as Djavan, Maria Bethânia, and Chico Buarque since 1990. He is a member of the Udiyana Bandha, a notable New Age band, and Choro na Feira. He has also collaborated with reggae band Ponto de Equilíbrio.
