Marcia Ann Neave is an accomplished Australian legal academic and judge, born on 23 August 1944. She served on the Supreme Court of Victoria from 2006 until her retirement in 2014, after which she became the commissioner of the Royal Commission into Family Violence. Notably, she was the first academic appointed to the Supreme Court in Victoria. Neave chaired an influential inquiry into prostitution in Victoria in 1985, leading to significant legal reforms. She has received numerous honors, including being appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1999 for her contributions to law.
