Marcial Maciel Degollado was a Mexican Catholic priest and founder of the Regnum Christi association and the Legion of Christ. Serving as General Director from 1941 to 2005, he was revered for his fundraising efforts and for recruiting new seminarians. However, later in life, he was exposed for sexually abusing young boys and maintaining relationships with two women, fathering six children, two of whom he also abused. He was relieved of ministry in 2006 by Pope Benedict XVI amid investigations into his misconduct and passed away in 2008.
